Pets with Unique Care Requirements
Special Needs
Advancements in veterinary science have led to pets living longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. As a result, more animals are thriving while managing chronic medical conditions and behavioural challenges.
At Parker Pet Care, we have the experience and expertise to support these unique needs. Our team is trained to provide care that accommodates a wide range of medical and behavioural circumstances. This ensures uninterrupted, compassionate, and consistent care for your pet, even when you’re away.
Your pet’s wellbeing is our priority, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of continuity in their care.

Scope of Care
With years of experience, we’ve developed trusted systems and protocols to support a wide range of pet and client needs. We understand what can be safely and effectively managed in our care environment and when it’s in your pet’s best interest to receive care at home or in a veterinary setting. Our commitment is to always advocate for what’s best for your pet, even if that means recommending alternative care.
Eat/Drink Independently
Pets must be able to eat and drink on their own without assistance. This ensures they receive proper nourishment and hydration throughout their stay, and helps us maintain a safe and comfortable environment for all animals in our care.
Independent Elimination
Pets in our care must be able to eliminate on their own, without the need for manual stimulation or intervention. This ensures their health and comfort in being able to eliminate when they feel the urgency to do so.
Mobility
Pets in our care must be able to rise, walk to food and water, and move away from their sleeping area to eliminate. While we can assist pets with limited mobility, we are unable to accommodate those who cannot independently control their front or back limbs completely.

We are unable to provide care to pets who:
Young Pets
Young pets are at an increased risk of disease transmission simply due to their immature immune system. Puppies and kittens typically require 3 rounds of vaccines at 8, 12 and 16 weeks.
For entry into our facility, puppies and kittens are required to have the 12 week vaccine (2nd) booster appropriate for their species.
For Puppies: DHPP and Bordetella
For Kittens: FVRCP
Pets are now required, by law, to have the Rabies vaccine administered at 12 weeks.

Medication
We are happy to provide the same medication routine as you would follow at home. We have trained our staff to be able to manage oral, topical and injectable medication.
Fees:
Oral Medication: $4/administration
Topical Medication: $5/administration
Injectable Medication: $8/administration

Surgery Recovery
If your pet has recently had surgery and still has sutures intact, we would recommend seeking care through home boarding or a veterinary setting.
For pets who have had recent surgery but who have fully recovered (approx 14 days post surgery), we would be happy to discuss how we can provide specialized care for your pet during this delicate time.
Diabetic Pets
As diabetes becomes increasingly common among pets, our team has taken proactive steps to ensure we can provide the specialized care these animals need. In collaboration with our trusted veterinary partners, we’ve developed dedicated protocols designed to manage diabetes safely and comfortably during your pet’s stay.
We maintain refrigeration on-site to store insulin at the correct temperature and follow strict routines to ensure proper dosing. Pets must consume their full meal prior to insulin administration, as this is essential to keeping blood glucose levels stable and within safe parameters.
Our experienced team is trained to monitor diabetic pets closely. If we observe any changes in appetite, elimination, or behaviour, we will contact you immediately and arrange veterinary care to ensure your pet’s wellbeing is never compromised.
Your pet’s health and safety are our highest priorities, and you can trust us to manage their condition with the utmost care and professionalism.

Arthritis
We understand the challenges of arthritis and medical conditions affecting mobility. We provide thoughtful accommodations to keep your pet comfortable and mobile. Our team can administer medications as you would at home, offer soft, supportive bedding, use rubber matting for traction, and adjust activity routines to include slower-paced walks that support joint health.
Behavioural Considerations
Canine behaviour is complex and deeply influenced by a range of factors, including body language, environment, medical conditions, and home life dynamics. At Parker Pet Care, we recognize these nuances and are trained to interpret and respond to them with care and expertise.
Our team is equipped to manage specific, predictable behavioural challenges in a way that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of both the dog and the handler. Through informed observation and consistent routines, we create a supportive environment where dogs feel secure and understood.
