Andrew Parker

Executive Director

Andrew has been immersed in the world of Parker Pet Care for as long as he can remember. From a young age, he was hands-on in the business, assisting in the cattery and helping transfer dogs from the front office to the animal care facility, experiences that laid the foundation for his deep connection to the company.

After earning a degree in Psychology from Queen’s University, Andrew spent several years working with at-risk youth in Kingston and Toronto. In 2007, he returned to Parker Pet Care to support his parents and to facilitate their transition into retirement.

Andrew’s entrepreneurial mindset and forward-thinking approach have been instrumental in shaping the evolution of the business. In recent years, he has taken on a more active role in overseeing operations at the West Hill branch, while also contributing significantly to financial planning and long-term strategic development alongside his mother at the head office level.

Andrew shares his life with his beloved long-haired Dachshund, Jules, his wife Maureen, and their two children, Elliot and Annabelle.

Alana Arcia, RVT, CPACM

Managing Director

Alana’s journey with Parker Pet Care began at the remarkable age of 15. While still in high school, she worked part-time across several departments, including animal care, the front office, and grooming. After graduating, Alana pursued post-secondary education and gained additional experience working in veterinary clinics throughout the Greater Toronto Area. She returned to Parker Pet Care in 2011, bringing with her a strong foundation of clinical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Since her return, Alana has played an integral role in elevating the standards of care at Parker Pet Care. Drawing from her diverse background and formal training, she has contributed significantly to the development and refinement of staff protocols, procedures, and operational policies. Her passion for leadership and team development has made her a key figure in ensuring the highest quality of care for both animals and staff alike.

While Alana occasionally works in the front offices at both locations, she primarily collaborates with the management team to strengthen operations, drive innovation, and uphold excellence across all areas of the business.

In 2022, Alana graduated from Sheridan College and successfully completed the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) to become a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). That same year, she achieved the prestigious CPACM (Certified Professional Animal Care Manager) designation—an elite credential held by only two other professionals in the industry.

Alana shares her life with her husband Rick, their three children, and their two beloved Chihuahuas, Scooby and Rocco.

Susan Houston-Parker

Director of Finance and Admin

Susan has been a dedicated member of the Parker Pet Care team since 2006. While she initially spent some time in our front office, her strong background in financial management quickly led her to a more fitting and impactful role within our accounting department. Her keen attention to detail and organizational skills have made her an essential part of our financial operations.

In recent years, Susan has expanded her responsibilities to include a leadership role in Human Resources across both our West Hill and North York locations. She plays a vital part in supporting staff well-being, fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture, and ensuring compliance with business, employment, and health and safety standards.

Outside of work, Susan enjoys spending time with her beloved long-haired Dachshund, Lily, and is a proud mother to her two children, Madison ( her new son in law, Matt) and Connor.

Fernando Freitas

Director of Facilities

Fernando has been a valued member of the Parker Pet Care team since 2018. He began his journey with us as a high school co-op student and was quickly welcomed onto the animal care team due to his strong work ethic and natural affinity for the role.

In 2022, Fernando expanded his professional skills by enrolling in the Electrical Techniques program at Humber College. Following graduation, he spent two years gaining hands-on experience in the trades and construction industry. This diverse background has proven instrumental upon his return to Parker Pet Care, where he has played a key role in revitalizing both our West Hill and North York locations. His work has significantly contributed to the modernization and enhancement of our indoor and outdoor spaces, directly impacting the comfort and care of our four-legged guests.

Fernando’s commitment to quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and passion for improving pet care environments make him an ideal leader for our Facilities Department. His thoughtful approach ensures our spaces are not only functional but welcoming and safe for every pet in our care.

Though he doesn’t have pets of his own, Fernando is a proud and devoted “uncle” to his sister’s Golden Retriever, Toby.
