Thursday, March 19th, 2020.

To our valued clients,

After considerable thought and consideration, we, the Parker Family, after consulting with our senior employees, have made the very difficult decision to temporarily shut down Parker Pet Care effective 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 24th. By that time, we expect there to no longer be any animals in our care. No animals will be abandoned and no animals will have their care compromised. We are in contact with the owners of all pets currently in our care, and a plan is in place for every pet. Furthermore we will be ceasing our daycare services by the end-of-day on March 19th. Our main reception will be available by appointment only, starting Friday, March 20th, until we close on Tuesday, March 24th.

We have made this decision for two reasons. Firstly, we believe it is the socially responsible thing to do. We all need to do our part in the face of this pandemic, and social distancing and isolation is important to reduce the spread of infection. Secondly, we are closing out of concern for continuity of care for the animals. If any of our staff develop a COVID-19 infection, we will all have to isolate as per guidelines, which will leave nobody to care for the animals. We can’t allow this situation to occur.

Our current plan is to re-open all our services on Monday, April 27th. The Canadian Prime Minister said this morning this crisis could last “weeks to months”. We will reevaluate as appropriate and communicate via social media and our website if this date changes.

During this period we will not be answering our phones, however, we will be checking email regularly, so if you would like to communicate with us, please do so at northyork@parkerpetcare.ca or westhill@parkerpetcare.ca .

After 75 years, it’s immensely hard for us to close our doors, but these exceptional times require extraordinary measures. We wish you all health and safety, and we will miss you all dearly. Your pets bring us immense joy and we will look forward to seeing them in the very near future when we open our doors again for your family.

Warmest Regards,
Andrew Parker
