Free Trial Day

At Parker Pet Care, we understand that leaving your beloved pet in someone else’s care is a big decision.
That’s why we’ve designed our Trial Day to help make this transition as smooth and comforting as possible, for both you and your pet.

Why We Offer a Free Trial Day

The Trial Day is a wonderful opportunity for your pet to meet our caring and experienced team, get comfortable in a new environment and experience the daily routine they’ll follow during an overnight stay.

We want every pet to feel safe, secure, and happy while in our care, and the Trial Day helps us make that happen.

What Happens During the Trial Day

This special day is offered free of charge and works just like a regular daycare visit. You’ll drop your pet off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon.

Throughout the day, we gently guide them through activities that mirror what they’ll experience during an overnight stay, such as:

Bathroom Routines

Engaging Activities and Enrichment

Practicing Health Checks

Accepting Treats and Positive Reinforcement

Practicing Leashing/Walking Skills

Settling into Accommodation

Safety and Wellbeing – Our Shared Responsibility

At Parker Pet Care, the safety and wellbeing of every pet—and every person—in our care is at the heart of what we do. We’re honoured to be entrusted with your pet, and we approach that responsibility with the utmost respect and thoughtfulness.

As part of our Trial Day evaluation, we assess whether each pet can safely and comfortably stay with us, both for their own benefit and for the safety of others.

Feeling Safe in Their Space

Pets must be able to stay safely in their enclosures without constant supervision. This ensures they remain safe and calm during short alone times, like rest periods.
We monitor for signs of anxiety, including:
Excessive panting or drooling
Pacing or digging
Escape attempts
If these behaviours arise, we’ll work with you to assess whether our care environment is the right fit for your pet.

Health and Wellness Considerations

Your pet’s current health is an important factor in determining their readiness to stay with us. We want to ensure we can meet their needs safely and that their health status allows them to benefit from our care.
If a pet is recovering from surgery, has a contagious condition, or is experiencing pain or discomfort, we’ll discuss the best timing and support options with you to make sure they’re set up for success.

Respectful Company of Other Pets

Not every pet needs to be social—but they do need to be safe. We understand and accept that some pets prefer solitude or selective interactions. However, it’s essential that all pets in our care do not pose a risk to others during our regular routines.

Positive Engagement with Our Team

Our team is trained to handle pets with care, patience, and empathy. We also have a responsibility to ensure staff safety while providing essential services like feeding, leashing, bathroom breaks, and wellness checks.

Sharing Our Observations

Midday during the Trial Day, you’ll receive a personalized Trial Day Report Card. This gives you insight into how your pet did, including how they interacted with our team, their comfort level, and any notes on how we can best support them going forward. This also acts as a starting point for you to ask questions and make recommendations for your pet’s upcoming stay with us.
